The Ups And Downs Of Daycares Print E-mail
By Aydan Corkern

When people usually have a newborn they have to decide whether they are going to stay home with their child before going back to work or if they are going to go back to work and send their child to a daycare. This is a very important decision in parenting. Making this decision affects somewhat on how their child will be brought up. There are many different types of daycares and then there are all their pros and cons.

Some parents decide to go back to work right after the child is born so they send them to daycare. They can either send their child to a worksite daycare where they take the child to work with them and can eat lunch with the child or play with them during their break. Home day care is another option. A home day care is where the parents find a person they trust that takes care of about 5 children at their house. Another option for working parents is they can send their kids to a daycare center.

At a daycare center its like school for the kids. The kids go to the daycare five times a week and they play with the other kids there. They have story time, craft time, and lunchtime. After lunch they get to go outside and play on the playground. After playing for a while they come in and take a nap. All these options for daycare are nice for parents who would like to go back to work because they offer some time for the parents to interact with adults at work, to feel satisfied professionally, and earn money. The child also learns how to interact with other children at the same time.

There is also a downside though to all these options. While you are earning money you are loosing money by paying for daycare. You also are away from your child and have less time with them and you miss out on some of their 'firsts' that can never be recaptured. A few other options are either one parent can go back to work while the other stays home or they can both take off work to stay home with the baby. Another one is they can have their extended families watch the child. By doing this the child can spend time with family and the big plus is it usually doesn't cost!
